Sitges, September 28th to October 1st, 2026

3rd CONFERENCE OF THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR SPATIAL BIOLOGY

Painting a new biology

Welcome

Welcome to the third annual conference of the  ESSB, Painting a New Biology, a gathering that continues to redefine how we see, study, and imagine living systems. Over four days in the coastal town of Sitges near Barcelona, ESSB will bring together scientists from around the world to explore the rapidly evolving frontiers of Spatial Immunology, Computational Biology, Spatial Medicine, Cancer and the Tumor Microenvironment, Novel Applications, and Emerging Technologies that are reshaping modern biology.

This year’s program blends  rigor and creativity, pairing classical conference elements, talks, posters, and data-rich presentations, with forward-looking panel discussions designed to challenge assumptions and spark new lines of inquiry. Built by and for early-career researchers, ESSB introduces new session formats to accelerate collaboration, sharpen ideas, and empower the next generation of scientific leaders in this emerging field.

Beyond science, we invite you to experience the  culture, community, and spirit that have become ESSB hallmarks: shared spaces for informal exchange, creative activities inspired by our local environment, and a commitment to open, accessible science that welcomes diverse perspectives.

Thank you for being part of this expanding community. Together, we will continue  painting a new biology– one rooted in curiosity, collaboration, and bold thinking.

Welcome to ESSB 2026!

Anna Pascual Reguant, Eduard Porta-Pardo, Xavier Rovira Clave, and Miguel Reina-Campos
